Sunday Sounds: The Head and The Heart, “Rivers and Roads”

I’ve been lucky that among the many concerts I’ve been to, I haven’t seen a band totally bomb onstage, however it is uncommon to be absolutely blown away from a live performance. Thankfully, The Head and The Heart falls into the latter category.

When I went to see Iron & Wine this past summer they were the opening band– their set was phenomenal. Not only was this the first time to hear them live, but it was the first time I had ever heard them. Armed with many a musical instrument and as many band members to play them, their indie-alt-folk sound is so endearing and sincere. The interaction between the band members, which was so natural and so evident of the sheer love they have playing music, made me adore them even more. This candid live session of “Rivers and Roads” from the Seattle music blog Sound on The Sound is proof of that.

The Head and The Heart have an iTunes session that’s coming out this Tuesday– excited for it! They are also playing a few shows in the US next month before heading out on a tour in Australia; dates can be found at their official site. If you get a chance to see them, go go go!

This song is also accidentally applicable to the end of Thanksgiving weekend; I hope everyone had a safe journey home and here’s to a wonderful week ahead!
